We have had 3-M for 10 years with very, very, very few problems. It works
so well, that it caught a young lady walking out with a book in her hand
today. I said, really jokingly, "Hey, you can't steal books." Well, she
didn't take it as a joke, because she really was "stealing" it.  She said,
"Why won't you let me check out a book?" I said, "Do you  have an
overdue?" (We don't let them check out a book if they have an overdue.)
She said, "Yes, and I can't find it." So I said, "Well, you still can't
steal a book." And she said, "But I'm not stealing it.  I'll bring it
back!"

By this time, I was about in my fall over mode.  I told her, "If you take
a book out of the library without checking it out, that is stealing it."

I wonder how Macy's management would react if you took a shirt, promising
to return it when you were finished with it?
