BOOK: Zombies of the science fair by Coville

This is a series about a 6th grade alien who is the son of the
ambassador to Earth.  He goes to Tim's school and in this book
they both have to make a science fair project.  The alien, Pleskit
makes a "suggestibility ray" which allows the person who fires the
gun to make suggestions to the person it is fired at.  Unfortunately
it has some strange side effects.  In the midst of the science fair,
another alien comes to kidnap Pleskit.  With this 148 page book,
Bruce Coville creates a situation kids will like -- the alien partially
communicates by farting strange odors through a tube on his head.
 The series does one nasty trick though -- for the prequel to the
series, explaining the premise, it is a separate story which has a
chapter at the end of each book in the series (not a book unto
itself.)  So if you want to read the prequel, you must get the whole
series and read it, part by part.  (By the way, I picked this up on a
whim at the grocery store and there appears to be a TV series in
Canada based on this series.)
