I do the same thing with my jewelry. Everywhere I go, I look for pins, earrings, necklaces, which have storytelling potential. I'll wear my spider pin when we do Anansi stories, a wizard for anything magical, a whale or fish for ocean stories, etc. I also have an electronic pin which flashes R--E--A--D, READ! This one never fails to get comments. (I got it from the California Reading Association booth the last time ALA was in San Francisco). The kids are always intrigued!
