In response to a number of requests .... a panel beating yard is where cars that
have been in
crashes with other cars, telephone poles, garbage cans, mail boxes, and all those
other objects that
jump out into their path go to have the dings, dents, and other damage repaired.
It is often next
to a spray-painting shop where the panels are resprayed to their original colour.

It is a place you will visit when you come to Australia if you forget which side of
the road we
drive on!  The LEFT!  :>}

It is also a place you will visit if you drive through patches of bush (even in the
cities) at dusk
or dawn and don't keep a sharp eye out for kangaroos, wombats and koalas. However,
if you are in
the Queensland area, please feel free to take part in the national sport of
squish-the-cane-toad.
They are a real menace to our native wildlife and make a delightful pop as they go
under your tyres.
(Yes that is the Oz spelling of the word!)

Cheers
Barbara

PS Share the story with anyone coming here - we really want you to enjoy your stay
but the pace of
life here is just not as frantic as some of you are used too and not everything has
to be done
yesterday. You will find us charming, friendly and helpful but very egalitarian
and not intimidated
by race, rank, richness or royalty.
