Signatures on messages

To all members of LM_NET,

Lately there have been messages on LM_NET where readers have not been able
to identify the sender.  The Hospitality Committee is asking that you
include your name, your library, email address, and the area that you are
from.  This would also include messages where you would reply directly to
the sender of the message in response to a TARGET posted on the list.

Several weeks ago there was a discussion about signatures.  Many of the mail
programs now allow more than one signature.  Please develop a signature that
you can use just for the listserv so that we can identify where you are
from.

I can understand why you would not want to include a school mailing address
or any home information in your correspondence.  Several years ago I had the
school address in my signature and started getting brochures and vendors
which I had never heard of before.  I also found that it is not good to list
an email address on any of the directories such as Switchboard because that
is just inviting all kinds of mail which we do not want.  However, since we
are all on the list for the purpose of learning about school libraries and
what other librarians do, please let us know where you are from.
