Thanks to all who replied to my request for bookmark patterns. Most
responses  recommended this site:

You might try AASL or ALA as well.

Someone also suggested this:
Check and see if your district or elementary school
has one of those things that punches out the shapes
from paper.  It's like a press and you put in dies
(cutters) of various shapes and cut things out for
bulletin board letters and stuff.  There are really
cute dies for bookmarks if you can get ahold of them -
just cut out a bunch and have the students create!
