Greetings! A fellow librarian collects mermaid/merman objects and, while visiting Texas, often came across a figure of a mermaid/merman holding a watermelon-ish object. She suspects that the figure has a folklore/mythology base in either Native American/Mayan/Mexican culture, but was not able to ask anyone about it at the time. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can you give me any leads for tracking it down?
