Joanne et al -- It is incredible that there are not already laws in = place regarding this type of harassment. What on earth takes lawmakers = so long, anyway? It's not as though the internet is such a new thing. I have not been subjected to the recent spate of spam but have been in = the past. What you do NOT want to do is "reply" or otherwise = acknowledge receipt of these emails, even (or especially) if the message = states that by doing so you can "unsubscribe" to avoid further contact. = This only confirms the validity of your email address to them. They do = not care one whit about how offended you might be. I do believe that these characters have had free reign in the past but = that it is soon coming to an end. They should get busy looking for = another hobby. As far as the general public is concerned, the best way = to fight things like this is to remember that knowledge is power. -- Laurie ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "communication with the dead is only a little more difficult than communication with some of the living" ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *************************************=20 Laurie Hennessey, Professional Assistant=20 Eastern Campus Library/Media Resources=20 Suffolk County Community College=20 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead, NY=A0 11901=20 phone 631-548-2542=A0=A0 fax 631-369-2641=20 email:=A0 hennesl@sunysuffolk.edu=20 *************************************=20 =3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D= -=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D=3D-=3D=20 =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 All postings to LM_NET are = copyright=20 To quit LM_NET (or set-reset NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send email to=20 =A0listserv@listserv.syr.edu=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 In the message = write EITHER:=20 =A01) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST=20 =A03) SET LM_NET MAIL=A0 * Please allow for confirmation from Listserv=20 =A0For LM_NET Help & Archives see:=A0 http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/=20 =3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D= -=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D--=3D-=3D-=3D=20 =A0 >-----Original Message----- >From: School Library Media & Network Communications >[mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU]On Behalf Of Joanne E.
