Thanks for the suggested book titles on peer pressure for 5th-6th grade reading level. The following titles were suggested: Try: Wringer by Jerry Spinelli How about Wringer, by Jerry Spinelli. I think the lead character stands up to peer pressure pretty well though he doesn't actually come to that point until the end. He struggles with it until then, and does follow his own values and what his heart says in regards to the pigeon he finds and takes as a pet in the winter. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli The Trial of Anna Cotman by Alcock? The Tulip touch / Annie Fine might fit the bill. Natalie lives in the large hotel managed by her father, and has a dangerous friendship with Tulip, the wildly uncontrollable girl on a neighboring farm. She copes with this by recognizing her need and ability to say no to Tulip. RL at around a 6.0 -- that's a guess -- IL probably 5-9. The first one that comes to mind is a new one called The Blue Avenger, but it is labeled YA...it is about a young high-school kids whose father dies (he was a policeman) and the son finds his blue fishing vest in the garage...he is kind of a nerdy kid, and he starts to wear this and turns into a kids who helps out everyone else...it's funny, and also makes a point about individuality and love. Thanks again.
