Another Damaged Book Tale

I like to tell the kids stories from personal experience as well. Each year,
I begin with book care and their favorite story is about the morning I was
eating one of my favorite breakfasts, mashed potatoes while I read the
newspaper. On the way to my mouth, a large dollop of potato escaped my spoon
and landed in the middle of the page. Boy was I glad I wasn't reading a
library book.

My personal favorite story is about the student who had two dogs, a golden
retriever and a black lab. The girl wanted to learn more about the dogs so
she took out a book about each breed. One day she came to me with fear in
her eyes and something hidden behind her back. I asked her shat was wrong
and she produced a horribly mangled book. Wouldn't you know, the black lab
ate the book about the golden retriever!
