Possible Plagiarism?

One of my teachers has student who turned in a story about a boy who got a
bb gun for his birthday.  His dad told him not to shoot birds, but when no
one was around the boy shot and killed one.  Afterwards the boy feels
remorse and picks up the bird.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?  I would like the title and author if
possible.
