Has anyone mentioned "Fig Pudding" ? I think the
author is Fletcher. My own children asked me to stop
reading it because it was "too sad".  Also, "Mick
Harte Was Here" by Barbara Park. This was CT's Nutmeg
Book Award Winner last year. Both books deal with the
death of a child from the siblings' point of view and
both have you alternating between laughing out loud
and crying!
