Dear Joanne and all Netters: Thanks for the great quote, Joanne, and for bringing one of the most intriguing living writers to lots of people's attention. Russell Hoban is the author of all of the wonderful Frances books; his then-wife, Lillian, is the illustrator He is also the author of, among other things, *Riddley Walker,* one of the most fascinating novels of modern times, from a linguistic point of view alone. He lives in London and continues to write novels for adults and young people of all ages.
