Yes, you/we need to be the last barricade! It's appalling how many children have not been brought up on nursery rhymes. Where else, for one thing, are they going to develop an ear for language? Read them, sing them, play some of the GOOD recordings of them. I have a terrific album at home that has the rhymes sung and recited by Cyril Ritchard and others.
