Mac help for uninstalling

I need some quick information on how to uninstall application software such
as Clarisworks on a Mac.  I'm strictly a PC person, but have a friend with
a Mac.  She needs to free up some hard drive space, and has several
applications that she never uses and would like to get rid of.
