fans of LM_NET.....

for your summer reading pleasure, i highly recommend this book: Educating
Esme: Diary of a Teacher's First Year by Esme Raji Codell.  it's a journal
of her experiences in an inner-city school which makes many references to
integrating children's literature in the classroom.

i laughed and cried all throughot the book then passed it on my MY boss
who loved it and read exerpts from it before each staff meeting.

Madame Esme also has a fabulous website for teachers and librarians.

many resources for (mostly) elementary, some middle school and high
school, reading lists, and activities to encourage reading both for
classrooms and parents.  she also has lists of books by subject area.  i
think she is worth your time to check out her website and book.  i'm
also hoping we can book her sometime to come speak to our staff, because
i think she'd really stir them up!
