He also, of course, used to be the director of libraries/media & tech
for Bellingham schools. So not only is he a supporter, he has practical
knowledge and experience too.

When I was asked a couple years ago to suggest a speaker for a
statewide administrators' conference, Jamie is the one I suggested
(and the one who was chosen).

My only regret is that my own superintendent did not attend (previous
district, not current). This is a man who told one of the high school
teachers that he would not even waste his time looking at the research
she was presenting him with because *he* was the research pro in our
district, not her. Maybe he would have listened to McKenzie. That
teacher, btw, had a grad degree in research and statistics, graduating
at the top of her class at Yale, first woman grad in the program.
She was too polite to tell him that. Hah. And the research he presented
as the *official* research, the same research he presented to the nodding
heads of the school board, came off a satirical website. He even had
the url printed right on it. Anyone could have checked but "anyone"
didn't check.

Ah, but I digress. I'll go back to my garden now.
