San Diego area

Hi San Diego!  I am going on my first trip and wonder what there is to see
and do in your area.  In particular, I understand that there is a Dr. Seuss
archive in La Jolla and wonder whether it is a place to go to.  It is not
clear from its web site if this is someplace to visit or just do serious
research.  While you are commenting on the Dr. Seuss Library, feel free to
recommend restaurants, beaches, shows, museums, and other places to go.  I do
have reservations for the Getty Museum already.  I do not want to do Sea
World or the zoo - this is a grownup trip (actually, I misspoke, I have been
to both of these places before)! Should I go to Mexico?  I do have a car and
a great friend with me.   Thanks!
