Dear Graduate Students,

When I was getting my degree at the University of Maryland, I strongly
suspected that I was receiving a theoretical approach to school
librarianship. So I volunteered one day a week at my children's school
library.

 That certainly gave perspective to my library science education. I learned
the secrets of book repair and circulation!
I learned about the neverending nature of library work and the value of a
smile and a healthy sense of humor. Oh yes, and don't underestimate any
detail; or else it will come back to trip you!
