I would appreciate information from anyone who has experience using the Reading Counts program and matching students to books at their ability level. In our middle school we have used the program for several years but have not been happy with the things we have tried to match readers with books at their ability level. Teachers are not comfortable putting reading level on the book and the R.C. point system is not readily useful. I have emailed Reading Counts who say that they are making some changes due out in August but I am not sure that those changes are going to address this problem. I have also accessed the R.C. website and the Lexile website which is informative but not in regard to the R.C. program. Thanks for any information or sources I can search for further info.
