Dear Netters: Thanks to Colane, Connie, Judi, Virginia, Joyce, Carolyn, Sybil, Ed, Denise, Millicent, Helmut, Virginia S., Irene, Melissa, Shirley, and Georgia who replied with sites for use in teaching Powerpoint. The sites are: http://www.wku.edu/~downijr/classes/161/PowerPointManual.htm (the PowerPoint manual) http://www.actden.com/pp/ (wow, great site) http://www.roundrockisd.org/academics/InstTech/ITProfDev/Mod8MM/LessonMM.htm (step by step lesson plan for adding multimedia) http://www.freeskills.com (site of skills, individual pages in PDF format) http://www.uwec.edu/Admin/Doc/Help/PPoint/toc.htm#overview http://www.geocities.com/~webwinds/classes/powerpt.htm#Training Go to the address given below. Scroll down the page until you can see the "keyword" entry box. Type in the word powerpoint and tell it to search or go. You should get a list of about 35 units on teaching PowerPoint or using it in a presentation. Each of these units will have at least 5 additional URL's on the subject. Some of the units are targeted specifically to Middle School/Jr. High. http://www.lessons.k12.tn.us/ The Microsoft in Education website http://www.microsoft.com/education/tutorial/default.asp has quite a lot of information for the teacher and administrator, both on using the product and on integrating the product in the curriculum. Even though their PowerPoint 97 In and Out of the Classroom: A practical guide for Teachers http://www.microsoft.com/education/tutorial/classroom/ppt97/default.asp is designed for the teacher audience, I'm sure that at least parts of it can be used directly with students. http://www.cesa8.k12.wi.us/it/webquests/Heroism/Heroes/PwrPt%20Rubric.htm is Assessing Multimedia Presentations: a PowerPoint Rubric http://www.coe.ilstu.edu/phklass/eaf493/pptinfo.htm is PowerPoint 97 Basics by Trisha Klass might be used as a handout http://library.humboldt.edu/~chadwick/pptintro.htm http://www.lkwdpl.org/schools/harding/comp305/power.htm http://146.115.160.2/~hs/tutorials/powerpoint.html Sylvia Jacquard Teacher-Librarian Central Kings Rural High School Cambridge Station, N.S.
