Hello, LM_NET colleagues, I keep seeing postings about school being out for so many of you. I'm amazed that you're done so early. I'm also curious about year round schools and library service. If you are at a year round school please answer the following questions: 1. Does the Librarian work a year round, a traditional, or some other schedule? 2. Do the other library staff work a year round, a tradition, or some other schedule? 3. If staff (either librarian or paraprofessional) are off during the summer, how is the library kept open for the students and staff? 4. What grade levels are covered at your school? My district has both traditional and year round schools. The librarians work traditional schedules. Library assistants work a certain number of days per year- some over the summer, and some not. During the summer librarians can volunteer to work at year round schools for extra pay at our normal daily rate. The money is great but the lack of a break left me tired when school started last year. This year I'll only be working two extra weeks. June 23 can't come fast enough for me!
