I am afraid there really is no grey area with software. Please have your district technician or systems person read the agreement that comes with every piece of software purchased. Unless you purchase open-ended, district wide software licenses which permit you unlimited installations, you may not share software. Software is purchased for a specific reason, for specific computers, and/or network use and to lend it out is not within the terms of the copyright agreement. I explain it to the kids like this: If YOUR Mom or Dad created that software and YOUR parents counted on EACH sale of that software for their salary, would YOU think it was ok to buy only ONE copy and pass it around?
