GEN, SEC: Classic Novel, Strict Father I'm working with the English department on summer reading for the entire high school, including incoming 9th graders. We have paired EAST OF EDEN and THE GREAT SANTINI for 11th and 12th graders. They will be writing an essay about the character of the father in each book. Now I'm searching for a "relatively classic" novel with a strict, rigid father for 9th and 10th. They will be reading this along with THE GREAT SANTINI.

        I hope it's just the end of the year "assault" from students trying to
        finish
        work, problems with orders, year end reports, inventory, etc.that is
        causing
        my mind to blank out.
