Am cleaning out my files and came across these "notes" about classic
authors that I find rather interesting.  Thought others on LM_NET might
also find the comments interesting.  This was before the time that I was
meticous about recording sources so I don't have any idea where these
"facts" came from -- but it would have been from books as the notes precede
the WWW by decades.  ;>)

*Nicknamed "The Judge" -- Thoreau
*Wanted to be come a "poet of nature" -- Thoreau
*At one time used pseudonym "Josh" -- Twain
*Built a house that looked like a Mississippi Riverboat -- Twain
*Established a "crook factory," -- it was a WW II informal but officially
approved counter intelligence organization designed to deal with the influx
of German spies in Cuba and with subs off the coast of Cuba -- Hemingway
*Had a romatic craving to make his body a "testing ground for all the
sensations of life" -- Crane
*Wrote of the upper class society -- Wharton
*Was known as odd looking, badly co-ordinated and a noisy show-off --
Sinclair Lewis
*Attneded Dartmouth College, same as Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) -- Frost
*Relative of Francis Scott Key -- Fitzgerald
*None of this writers work was published until after her death -- Dickinson
*Namever married, endured years of poverlty, and obscurity before poetry
began to attract attention -- Robinson
