One of my summer jobs this year at a college library is authority control. I found something interesting yesterday. Did you know that there are two subject headings (as per 1994 LC subject headings) Disappeared persons Missing persons (this is a narrower term) Does anyone know the difference? One I found a while ago was "Sewage and sewerage" (I always though that one was a spelling mistake but..) Sewerage is the system of pipes and Sewage is what flows through through them. Does anyone know if the LC subject heading listing is on the internet somewhere? Is the name subject heading list on line also? I don't use them enough to make it worthwhile to purchase the sets. *************** Frederick Muller Halsted Middle School Library 59 Halsted Street Newton, NJ 07860 voice (973) 383-7440 ext 228 FAX (973) 383-7432 My book reviews are compiled at: http://www.halsted.org/br.htm My personal web site is: http://users.tellurian.net/fmuller =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
