Target: HELP Lost Messages

Hello All.
   Hope your summer is going well.
   I just had a strange thing happen in Netscape Communicator (4.6 or
4.7...). When I was reading my mail, I went to trash to re-read a
message I had deleted. When I went back to my INBOX, I had lost 77
UNREAD messages. I have logged off, relogged in, and still can't seem to
retrieve the messages.
   Does anyone have a suggestion of what else I can try to do to
retrieve the messages????
