Assistant Dean of College Library Services

Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) invites applications for the
position of Assistant Dean of College Library Services.  The successful
candidate will be flexible, dynamic, and committed to providing =
excellent
technical, media, and other college-wide library services in a =
multi-campus
environment.

The second largest multi-campus college in the State University of New =
York
(SUNY) system, SCCC enrolls 20,000 students and offers more than 70 =
degree
and certificate programs.  The College Library Services (CLS) Department
supports three campus libraries with a combined collection exceeding =
200,000
items.  Located on the Ammerman Campus in Selden, NY, CLS provides
college-wide library services, including acquisitions, cataloging,
processing, college media, online library management systems, and =
electronic
database administration.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Dean of College Library Services is responsible for =
managing
CLS.  Primary responsibilities include planning, organizing, and =
directing
departmental functions, as well as assessing practices and procedures in
light of changing institutional goals and technological developments.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution =
is
required.  Also necessary is a minimum of five years of professional =
library
experience, including supervision of personnel; demonstrated expertise =
in
systems or database management; and cataloging.  Academic library =
experience
is preferred.
