Thanks to everyone who responded to a request for a story with the phrase "Marco comes late." The teacher was sure that it was a Dr. Seuss book and the most likely book was "And to think that I saw it on Mulberry St.," but several of our members alerted to me to the following book: The story called Marco comes late was in a Treasury of Literature Readtext book put out by Charles E. Merrill Books Selections by Elea nor M. Johnson and Leland B. Jacobs in a book called The Treat Shop and it was about Marco coming late to school and his excuse was that he had to intervene in two worms arguing and that made him late. The final sentence was after the teacher asks if all those things really happened to him, his reply was" Not quite all I guess, but I did see a worm. Thanks again!
