Subject: HIT:  Summer Reading Lists

ear Folks,

Thanks so very, very much for all your suggestions. They were wonderful
and made my job much easier. Some schools use author lists rather than
title lists, so I'll give you the most frequently mentioned authors. The
lists were so many and so varied that I'm going to list only those titles
that were most frequently cited. Also some wonderful websites.
Websites:
http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/DIS/readlist/
http://www.robs.org, then the library page, then the reading lists

Author lists as well as titles can be found at:
http://www.pwcs.edu

ALA and SLJ are good sites to visit also.

Frequently mentioned authors include: Alcott, Alexander, Avi, Creech,
Danziger, Hobbs, L'Engle, Lipsyte, Paulsen, Rinaldi, Paterson, Jacques,
Rowling, Voigt, McCaffrey, McKinley, Twain, Danziger, Lewis, Christie,
LeGuin, Tolkien, Taylor and Freedman.

Books include:  LITTLE WOMEN; BOOK OF THREE; YEAR OF IMPOSSIBLE GOODBYES;
BUD, NOT BUDDY; P.S. LONGER LETTER LATER; any bio by Freedman; MUSIC OF
DOLPHINS; MISTAKES THAT WORKED; ELLA ENCHANTED; WESTING GAME; THE CAY;
BELLE PRATER'S BOY; DEALING WITH DRAGONS; TUCK EVERLASTING; OUT OF THE
DUST; MY LOUISIANA SKY; RING OF ENDLESS LIGHT; SOLDIER'S HEART; GOLDEN
COMPASS; THE HOBBIT; BAT 6; SQUASHED; MIDWIFE'S APPRENTICE; EVA; PERFECT
STORM; INTO THIN AIR; THE CONTENDER; ROSE DAUGHTER; WATERSHIP DOWN; and
WOLF BY THE EARS.

Thanks again --
