Thanks to all who replied! Everyone is helpful as always! Here's the
suggestions I received as to where to purchas name tags or badges for
     media staff:

Have you tried DEMCO?? I ordered ours there last year.

I belong to a group which uses brass name tags and the names are not
as easily read as on the name tags we use at school. Our school name
tags are made so they can be clipped on or attached with a magnet. I
prefer the magnet. The school name tags are computer generated with
     the name in black letters
and printed on a light colored background. The name is easily read.

Hope this helps in some way.

I used to order the plastic ones from Demco which had the National
Library Symbol on them - blue background with white logo. These came
with a nice locking pin on the back and could be lettered any way you
     wanted.

I used Highsmith for a nice tag. It wasn't brass so I'm not sure if
that would be available. They were priced reasonably.

This company makes quality name tags/pins.
they make badges, etc. for police, fire, secret service, all kinds of
     law enforcement org.
I don't know if they sell retail, but I'm sure they could tell you how
     to order.

I'd try a big office supply store... don't know what you have but we
have Staples, Office Max, Office Depot...

Check out OfficeDepot or OfficeMax or Staples -- I'm sure they could
supply you at cheaper than a library catalog!

Our trophy stores sell the brass name plates. Some are plastic and
     look like brass. Good luck.

Check with your local police/sheriff's dept. Most officers have a
     metal engraved tag.

I don't know about the brass ones, but everyone at our school is
required to wear name tags on a daily basis, and the ones we have
(which are the best we've ever found to use) are on a magnet. Thus
they don't have to be pinned or clipped to anything. There is a
little magnet bar which goes behind the fabric to hold them on.

We bought colored ones from Demco or Brodart. They have the library
logo, names and titles on them about 1 inch wide and 3 inches long.
We love them, we can attach to clothes with the clip on the back or
     clip to our key chains.
