Cataloging Gods and Goddesses,

I have noticed recently that the MARC records (from Marcive) for some
fiction books contain the subfield v for fiction instead of the general
subdivision x. According to my reference sources, the subfield v is used for
genre.

Then in our Winnebago DOS catalog, the subject is shown as CATS, FICTION
instead of CATS-FICTION. A friend who has Winnebago Spectrum says that in
her catalog the v subfield doesn't appear at all, the subject is just CATS.

Have any of you noticed this? Is this a change in the LC standard? Should
x be used in some cases and v in others? How are you handling this?

Thanks for your input.
