Core collections for Alberta, Canada

I have been hired in a brand new school opening in September 2000. I need
to place an order for books before the end of June. (I start my new
position June 19.) I would appreciate receiving any advice on core
collections, hints on making the whole process easier and any other
advice which you can offer. The school will be from kindergarten to Grade
8 to open, with expansion to Grade 9 a year later. It is in Alberta,
Canada, so of course core collections to meet the Alberta curriculum are
of special
interest to me.
