Baltimore County officials warily raise school-library book budget
          Baltimore County Council okayed appropriating $10.5-million, but =
will require reports to allay concerns over how the school board spent =
money in the past (American Libraries Online)

Compact for Reading training June 23 in Washington, D.C.
          The U.S. Department of Education is sponsoring a training =
session on how to use the Compact for Reading Guide and the School-Home =
Links Reading Kit designed to help schools, families, and communities form =
and implement family/school compacts
