Library/Librarian Evaluations

Hi,

Your response to my initial posting as to the duties of Library Media Supervisors 
was so very helpful.  As my evaluation of my first year continues, several issues 
have been brought up by our superintendent.  The main one being, that I did not do 
a formal evaluation of each of the librarians in our district, rather the building 
site principal did their evaluations.  How do those of your in each position 
(Supervisor and Librarians) feel about that.  I like the idea of a collaborative 
effort; however, I admit that I did not make a formal effort to contact each 
principal about their ideas concerning Librarian evaluations.

Secondly, in an administrator's retreat scheduled for next week I would like to 
give each administrator an instrument that would allow him/her to give their ideas 
and opinions as to the Library Media and their services or lack thereof.  Would 
anyone out there be willing to share an instrument of this nature that you may have 
in your pocession.  Also would like to have a self-evaluation for for the LMS to 
fill out on their own performance and one to evaluate the LMC as a whole.  In other 
words, instruments of any nature associated with the evaluation of Library Media 
Supervisors,Libary Media Specialists and/or the Library Media Center and its 
services.  I want to get a good start on a concerted effort to have my 
superintendent see the value of this position and even more importantly, I want to 
verify the value of it with a much improved and specific goals-oriented agenda next 
year.
