Librarians Sedentary! Appearances are Deceiving!

I just had to comment.
One of my real pet peeves is how teachers wander in in the middle of a class
period and say "how quiet it is in here." and "Oh, I wish I had more time to
be in here."....etc. Okay, these comments are basically compliments BUT they
didn't just see the rush of 20 kids all needing something between classes
several minutes earlier, the copier jammed, the phone ringing with sales
reps talking a blue streak, volunteers staring at me saying "What do I do
next?"...a teacher who SHOULD know better asking an OBVIOUS library
question, students banging on the restroom wall RIGHT behind my
office....and on and on, people in a hurry, needing things NOW.

I think our libraries look invitingly peaceful BECAUSE we work so hard
non-stop.

I never read in the library (for fun), do you?

I guess this is a venting.....I'm not really upset. But you guys understand
better than even my husband, and he hears it all (too much) from me.

Stereotypes Explained:
There are reasons for those comfortable shoes ALL librarians seem to wear.
If you stay in the job long, you'll have to wear "orthopedic-like" shoes.  I
see now that there are reasons for the small glasses and even for the hair
in a bun.......
I bet some librarians' can outshine athletes on stress tests and walk
serious walkers into the ground! 8-0
