I am a new media specialist. I am in charge of a "slumber party" for K-1 next week. The kids and parents will come in their pajamas and the principal, reading teacher, and I will read one story each in our pajamas. There is usually a theme. I thought it would be fun to have fractured fairy tales because I really enjoyed Bubba and the Cowboy Prince. The principal was alarmed because the book says that the Bubba's stepfather was mean and his step brothers were lazy. The principal said that we had too many step families in our school and they would be affended. When he asked another teacher, she felt the same way. She said it shouldn't be read aloud. I was amazed. Am I naive? I now need to find 3 new books for next week. Any ideas? Remember, I can't ruffle any feathers!
