Greetings: I'm sorry it took so long to respond with a hit concerning teachers in the library and planning time. I got way more responses than I expected-must be a hot topic. Most schools give a least 30 minutes of planning a day to their teachers however, many give a lot more-there were a number of schools with 90 minutes per day. A number of librarians are not given planning time because they are not considered teachers. It was obvious from the responses that most principals take care of their classroom teachers first however, there are a few principals out there that recognize collaboration and the role of the library. 32 of the schools reported that teachers stay with their class during library time 17 of the schools reported that they provide planning time for the teachers There were several schools that said it was up to the teacher if they wanted to stay ( I counted those as not staying) and that although the principal wanted the teachers to stay, the teachers did their own thing.
