At my last school I earmarked book fair profits (not huge) for one particular department which I rotated each year. I didn't make a big deal about it, I simply informed the chosen department it was their turn, based on what section of the library needed beefing up. These profits were still for the library only, but the collection got a needed shot in the arm to support that curriculum, and was spent using those teachers' recommendations. I think the very first year I was there I spent it on unabridged recorded books for the required novels for middle school, but then I used it for Science books, Am. Hist books, etc. I don't remember hearing any grumbling--maybe it just didn't make it up the stairs! Maureen S.
