Hi, I've been searching the archives for ideas on a book censorship lesson = with 7th grade language arts classes. I love the idea of putting books in = paper bags with labels like "banned in Tennessee for 'explicit material.' = " The students then try to guess what kind of book must be in the bag. I'm planning to do a similar lesson, but need some help. The ALA website = lists lots of challenged books, but doesn't list specific quotes on when, = where and why they were challenged. I know some of you have already done = this lesson--could you share the titles/reasons you use or the source = where you got your information? I'll take any and all suggestions, but the books I'm most interested in = using are the following (all but one taken from the top 100 banned books = of the 1990s): Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Huckleberry Finn Bridge to Terabithia In the Night Kitchen The Goats Fallen Angels The Outsiders Harry Potter A Light in the Attic Face on the Milk Carton Rabbit's Wedding Thanks for your help, Marcia ********************* Marcia Kochel Media Director Olson Middle School Bloomington, MN 952-844-3008 ********************* =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
