Hi people,
Just wanted to tell our South African members that Nelson Mandela's visit
here has totally upstaged the Olympics ( sent it right off the front page).
Just watched some footage where he made an unexpected visit to the South
African team in the Olympic visit and the looks on the athletes' faces
showed that such a visit was worth more than any gold medal. (I cannot
think of any Australian politician that would have that effect!)
The press were more interested in Mandela than the arrival of the president
of the IOC.

who will perform for 1 min 47 secs at the Torch Relay Celebration.
