I am looking for the title and/or authors of a book that came out recently (2000 or late 1999). The premise of the book is kids are very literal, so are not always going to understand what you say to them if you don't say it explicitly. For example: You say: Haven't I told you a million times to put away your bookbag? You mean: Put away your bookbag. Kid "hears"/understands: I have told you many times to put away your bookbag. The book then talks about ways of communicating with your kids so that they understand exactly what you mean. The New York Times had a sidebar type of article about the book in the science section or book review, or somewhere, sometime this past spring. Also, I cut out a copy of the review from one of the journals (either Booklist or Library Journal), but lost it, and I really want to get this book for someone. Does anyone recognize this? TIA!
