Dawn, I would be interested in seeing responses to this question. I have done similar things as you have in the past, as well as a mini-lesson the first half of class, followed by purchasing and extra long check-out times, followed by silent reading, etc. I also have to house the book fair in my fiction room which is small so my younger students must select from the non-fiction area and the cart only so as to avoid confusion. Any input would be helpful in defining these time better.
