Greetings! I wonder if you have discovered stategies for getting teachers to use the wonderful magazines and books in your professional collections. Our school district has a teachers' collection and our middle school has its own collection of books and magazines for teachers. Very few of these are ever looked at or borrowed. I have checked the LM_NET archives for recommendations. Some of these we have done: Sending copies of relevent articles to individual teachers, sending tables of contents of subject-specific professional magazines to department members. So far we have not placed the teacher periodicals in the teacher's lounges or the lunch areas as was suggested. Another suggestion was to be sure that the professional materials are very current and that teachers themselves have input into selecting materials. Listing the available materials on a school web page (at a previous school) did not result in increased circulation of teacher materials. I would love to hear about your strategies for getting teachers to utilize your professional libraries. Thanks in advance.
