Cathy and netters...
I always take these requests and run them through google.com

"mammals" yields:
http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/mammal/mammal.html
http://dir.yahoo.com/science/biology/
zoology/animals__insects__and_pets/mammals/
http://www.geobop.com/Mammals/
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/mammals/
and so forth, all on the first page.

"birds" yields:
http://www.birdsofna.org/
http://www.pbs.org/lifeofbirds/
http://www.nzbirds.com/
http://home.vicnet.net.au/~birdsaus/
http://www.birds.org.il/ (fascinating -- notice the Hebrew choice as well
as English)
and so forth, again on the first page.
