I could make one of the teachers in my school very happy by supplying the answer to this query: She wants to know the title of a poem that she remembers from about 35 years ago. The poem was in her 8th grade prose and poetry book and was located with selections by Sandburg, Frost, Whitman and Poe. It was about a traveler who asked a wise man at the gate of a city, "What type of people are in this town?" The wise man asks, "What kind of people whence you came? Liars, thieves, etc. You'll find the people here the same." Next traveler asks same question. Wise man asks, "What kind of people whence you came? Good, true and wise. You'll find the people here the same." Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks for your help! Lynn Dressman LMS Mt. Sinai Elem. School Mt.
