Tar: Reference Books, Secondary

I am trying to build up our very outdated reference section--average age =
of this section is over 20 years old.  For example, we have a science =
encyclopedia set from 1965! =20

I am looking for suggestions of Must (or Should) -Have reference books and =
sets.  I am in need of materials for all subject areas--all the sections =
are bad!

So, if you have any favorites, please let me know.  I checked the archives =
and found a little bit of information, but not much.
