SEC: Short Story dealing with imperialism

OK, put on your thinking caps!  I have two teachers looking for a short
story dealing with imperialism.  We've been on the World's Best Poetry
(and Short Stories) site, and the teachers  did not warm to any of the
selections.

Any suggestions???
