TECH:Converting *.bin files

Does anyone know of a freeware program besides the StuffIt demo to
convert *.bin files to readable files on a PC?  When we copy files from
our Mac system to a PC, they are often changed into .bin files and then
cannot be opened on a PC.  We used to use Aladdin, but it appears to be
no longer available.
