If your 6th grade student is a fairly strong reader, have him/her try
"Paddle to the Amazon" by Don Starkell. It is the true story of a father
and son who paddle a canoe from Winnepeg, Canada to the mouth of the Amazon
River. It took them more than 2 years and the book came out of the author's
journal. He is not a great writer, but he tells the story simply and from
his own point of view which made it (for me) captivating.

Subject: ELEM: 2 requests for titles

> Hello Friends,
> I have two separate requests for titles:

> adventures. Not just fiction, but something that really happened that
> would be an adventure. She doesn't want biography.
